As a family company, we at ATROPA Infrared Saunas take the issue of sustainability particularly seriously. In a society characterized by disposable items, the responsible use of valuable resources is more important than ever. We not only participate in the legally required systems for waste avoidance and recycling, but are also involved in additional voluntary programs to protect our environment. This means that many parts of our products can be fed into a secondary cycle. This ensures that the diversity of flora and fauna and the social interests of the people living there are preserved. Of course, the controlled reforestation of our wood is also under constant external supervision (FSC), so that future generations will find a world worth living in.
An important aspect of our sustainability philosophy is the use of solid wood as opposed to e.g. chipboard or plastics. Wood binds about one ton of CO2 per cubic meter. During its growth, wood absorbs CO2 from the atmosphere and stores it in the form of carbon in the tree. When wood is used as a material, the carbon remains bound and does not contribute to CO2 emissions. However, it is important to note that the sustainability of wood depends on proper cultivation, harvesting and transport. It must be ensured that forests are managed sustainably to avoid over-exploitation of resources. In addition, the transport of wood products must be carried out in an environmentally friendly manner to minimize CO2 emissions.
In our actions, we always want to be a role model, for ourselves and for our fellow human beings. That is why we have strict company guidelines on how every employee has to deal with waste and how it can be avoided. We also strive to avoid plastic waste as much as possible.
The machines in production are largely energy self-sufficient. This means that they draw their electricity from the solar energy they produce themselves. On the other hand, production waste is put to secondary use where it makes sense. For example, sawdust is pressed and further processed into heating pellets.
In order to keep the CO2 pollution during the dispatch of goods as low as possible, we coordinate with each customer individually when the transport should take place in order to prevent unnecessary journeys and individual trips by the forwarding agent. This is the only way to create a sensible and sustainable logistics system in which every individual makes their contribution to the environment.
A major concern for us is the responsibility for our health. Therefore, all our materials are subjected to a careful health-related check.
In contrast to "Far East goods" or many "cheap cabins", no formaldehyde-emitting glues are used in our processing.
If you have any further questions on these topics, you are of course welcome to contact us.
The WEEE Directive 2012/19/EU (Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment) is an EU directive that was adopted in 2002.
The basic provisions of the WEEE Directive are:
As one of the fastest growing sectors, the electrical and electronic industry is also confronted with a growing amount of electronic waste. Our infrared saunas also have electronic components and are powered by electricity.
ATROPA is in line with the respective national implementations of the WEEE Directive. For example, ATROPA is a member of the EAR Foundation (WEEE Reg. No.: DE 26563418), which has been entrusted with the performance of sovereign tasks. ATROPA thus supports the safe and professional disposal of electrical and electronic waste.
Through ATROPA you can dispose of your old appliance in a professional and environmentally friendly manner. The old appliance can only be disposed of in connection with the purchase of a new infrared sauna. Please contact us regarding the specific handling before ordering by phone or by e-mail.
